Hi! Today I would like to show you my favourite sewing goodies which help a lot. I skip a standard stuff like needles, pins and measuring tape which I believe everybody has, but show rather something which is not belong the usual beginner set, but very and very helpful.
[one_third padding=”0px 15px 0px 0px”][/one_third] Dummy doll. Telling that having dummy doll is nice it’s not true, the doll is very useful and it’s hard to overestimate it. I have adjustable one which it not very optimal. It has pros and cons: if your figure is not a standard one you can individually adjust each parameter and make it more close to your real figure, on the other side this adjustability gives quite funny shapes, not so smooth as a body and most problematic is the breast size, usually smaller than needs. This of course makes problematic sewing tops and blouses for yourself. But anyway having any dummy doll is much better than none.
[two_third padding=”60px 0 40px 0″]Chalk Hem Marker. First I was very sceptical about it and did not have it for quite long time and I was mistaken. It’s quite useful! now I do not need to spend hours on the floor to adjust the length of my skirt or dress, can be done in 15 minutes. Of course one can argue that you should cut the right length from the beginning, but it’s not always the case.[/two_third][one_third_last][/one_third_last]

Seam allowances marker. It’s going to save your time especially if you are beginner. Experience dress-makers can keep 1.5 cm from the pattern line by cutting fabrics without any lines. If you are not one, this small device is very helpful.
[two_third padding=”0px 0px 0px 0px”] Tracing paper is also very helpful when you need to copy the pattern to the fabric. Just put it under the fabric and put your pattern on the fabric then press hard by coping all pattern lines, you will get exactly the same on another side. Do not need to transfer all marks to another half of your dress separately, they are already there![/two_third][one_third_last padding=”0px 15px 0px 0px”][/one_third_last]
[one_third padding=”0px 15px 0px 0px”][/one_third][two_third_last padding=”0px 0px 0px 0px”]One-meter long rule. Drawing patterns for maxi dresses or pants is more comfortable with long rule. It lets you to draw long lines without extra marks or make cuts of fabric much easier.[/two_third_last]
[two_third padding=”0px 0px 30px 0px”]Magnet does not need to be explained why it’s helpful. At the beginning I forgot to include the magnet to this list, but right after finishing the text for this post I hit the box with pins. Good that I have a magnet![/two_third][one_third_last padding=”0px 15px 0px 0px”][/one_third_last]
That’s what I found lying around during my current sewing project. Probably more will come…
